Adhu atttending farm bday party

Our neighbour satpreet organized her son's bday party in a farm which is some 45 minutes drive from home.  Parents were not allowed and advitha had to go with kids she plays every day so she was eagerly looking forward to the mini picnic
On the D day kids were given id cards, made to assemble and taken in a van to the farm. I got to know from satpreet (who was giving real time updates to us) that kids were taken around the farm,  made to feed the person animals, after which there was cake cutting and play sessions
I am in awe of these moms who sweat it out for their lil ones bdays. I am sure advitha had a great time with her friends. .
Any place is a better place with friends. .

grandpa (?))!! stories

The other day I was reading Adhu some interesting stories from the book 'Grandpa Stories'. The cover page of the book had a old man reading to small kids.Adhu was observing the cover page for a while and suddenly asked
'Mumma does grandpa's read stories?'
My heart sinked. My lil girl has two strong, hale and healthy grandpa's but both are busy pursuing their own interests and even when she sees them once in few months nothing worth mentioning about it...
In this context I should thank my mom, if not for her, my gals would not know the wonders of grandparents
I hope the folk of loving granddads increase and light the life of their own descendants...

good night sleep things

A Couple of days before Advitha started this habit of 'good night sleep things' where she packed lots of her goodies (her hair accessories, bangles, my lipstick, nail colurs, hair bands etc etc) and placed it next to her and slept..the reason she gave was to get good dreams and she herself named it as 'good night sleep things'
We found it really funny but its additional headache to me as it means she has to be late for sleep and her father who had to be pricked by these accessories while sleeping. we asked her to place the goodies in a bag so that we can remove it  when she goes into deep sleep only to put it back before she wakes up and not to mention It was extremely funny to watch her getting up with full makeup's somedays..
Anyway after a few days she forgot about this new found habit but we seriously miss the fun

Adhu's fifth bday party

This time  Adhu's birthday was celebrated in a straight, , simple yet fun filled way. We called her close friends whom she plays with every day . The kids were super kicked and theyll hadsuper fun.
Adhu and her friends jumped, danced and ate together. That too their chats while eating was a delight to watch. We ordered a beautiful princess cake, muffins, puffs , chips and french fries and topped up with juice
We organized passing the parcel game and all the kids went berserk playing it. When a kid had to do an activity related to the game, all kids did it together.  Like, sound like an elephant, all kids  did it. Sing for lungi dance, all kids sang in chorus.
It was a delight to see everyone singing birthday song for Adhu. All in all, we enjoyed her  birthday party very well

Oct 3 2013

Hi Advitha, you turned five.it looks like a magic number achieved. Wow! ! Five long adventorous years each painted with different colours. This year has just been wonderful. The themes I can say are
Friends
Yes! you got lots of friends and I am seeing you playing like a butterfly with them, thanks to your mingling with them, I can see  your confidence level  soar, you have become a no-inhibition gal and extremely active. Your TV time is considerably reduced to the extent of just half an hour every day, though I can see the aggressiveness and rebel nature more because of your friendships, net net I am only happy.your best friend is right now sanjana, third std kid and she calls you Adhu sweety...but pls dont be with your friends for a long time as I really miss you baby and pls also dont bore me with the dialogues you have with your friends, it is difficult to put a big laugh for those..

Big sister
This year has been special for you, you turned a big sister. i have no doubt about your immense affection for your lil sis. you get angry if i didn't take her susu in time, you wanted to select her dress, you are kissing her gently and if i am shouting at you to eat and when akshara cries at the sametime, you immediately say 'amma go take care of akshi, i will eat'. Yes, i know you brat, this is only to escape from my bawling, still your sentences related to your sissy is too cute. But i am seriously stunned that you dont show any sign of posessivess. Great going gal, you wanted only a sister and you got one..

Eating
You have certainly improved miles. You eat on your own. Though you take 45 minutes for a meal, you have improved tons and i am certainly proud of you
Revelations
You give stunning statements:
'Amma when i become a mother, i will be nice'.
' Amma, i am too tired of your shouting, you stop shouting and i will not behave like a bad gal'. God!who taught you to speak like this? i am only stunned
you love your bama paati a lot, you love your friends, you love your drawing and colouring, you love your school and you love DANCING! how can i miss your dancing, the recently joined bharatnatyam class is making a huge impact that you answer all my questions with dance which is too much at times..
What else!  Adhu, there will be people around judging you and criticising you to dim your confidence. Just don't be bothered my lil gal, be yourself and reach your fantasies and dreams. Be it dance, drawing, playing, singing just pursue your interests and enjoy your life.
My lovely lil baby, i love you loads and its great  to be a part of you

Love
Amma

one month old Akshu and big eater Adhu

As Akshsra turns a month old the house is really on its feet.Akshi (as Adhu sweetly nicknamed her) does what she is supposed to do with taking her feeds systematically , poos , giving me sleepless nights and now the lil thing is down with cold as well.....
Adhu , the big sis has accepted sisterhood very well , she says often that she loves her sissy loads and have also gracefully accepted her sissy's susu's in her dress without complaint. .
But all cannot be rosy...Adhu's eating habits is worse to say the least. ..madam does not eat anything in the morning and by 1 when she is back from school the first thing she sayss is 'mumma can I have a leave for food' ...phew!!! I hope I only have enough patience managing this brat....
But then there is always a silver lining. ..its adorable to see Adhu pampering her lil sis , dancing for her and gently kissing her
So net net....right now Akshara 's sleepless nights and Adhu's eating habits have become the current theme of the home....

sisters

Advitha is showing positive signs of being an elder sister. .absolutely no signs of possessivenes; shows streaks of affection by saying statement s like 'mumma switch off the fan-baby will feel cold', but gets irritated when we ask her to handle the baby carefully. .we are being adequately careful in giving our restrictions to her..lets see what behholds
Akshara-inputs, outputs, dirtying diapers...thats it for now

Akshara Aravind arrives

Yes we have got a younger daughter now and Advitha has now become an elder sister. .
She longed for a sister and she got one...
For us as well, two daughters are our first choice than a daughter and a son
.I had the same happiness when the doctor said its a girl..
AKSHARA has introduced us to a new world.
Made me a mother of two.....gave us new titles..Welcome my younger baby, you robbed our hearts immediately you came..I know its an uphill task but we are all set dear..

Thankful dialogue from Adhu

During a cosy night before putting Advitha to sleep, the conversation went on like

Me: Luvu dear, good night
Adhu: I luv u more than U LOVE ME mumma..!!

What a shock...a minute i was spellbound and heartborken..Then how else will a working mother, now-a-days strict mother who is always thronged with guilt feel..But still a BIG thanks my dear gal for your love. To get loved is a great, overwhelming feel...Proud of u..

Senior KG

The summer holidays got over and she has joined senior KG. seems to be liking it and is responsible as well...my dear lil girl is in her final kindergarden stage..during the first day, i seriously had a lump in my throat.it sometime pains to see kids grow up too fast...

Summer holidays...What a revelation..Part 3 (Challenges)

In this way she got a beautiful set to play

But all was not rosy....The kids were (+/-)2 years of Adhu's age, mostly from the northern part of india,  very aggressive and super smart i should say. Adhu being the soft one was finding it difficult to get adjusted to this evolving set. She was getting bullied,  it happened so that she used to take her toys (like barbie's) for play and the other kids would play with it without allowing her to even touch it....

I was wondering whether i should be pitching in either instructing her to be more smart or asking other kids not to dominate her too much...When i started slowly telling her about being smart, i became her first enemy..she was never ready to let down her friends group and come, what, may  wanted to play with them. When i was wondering(worrying) what to do, i laid out some ground rules. She can go down and play only outdoor games like running, catching etc with friends and not take her dolls which she started to oblige after a long time...

Now after a couple of months, she seems to be understanding that kids come of all shapes and size, everybody can't be docile. some will be aggresive, domineering, co-operative or too soft. The other day, Advitha went to Raisa (another super smart friend of hers) and asked her if she wants to play with her for which the girl replied ' i am not your friend and i don't want to play with you'. Advitha was instant in saying 'Its okay, i have other friends to play..you go'..Well now i need not be a worried mom.My lil one knows how to survive :)

Summer holidays- 2013.......What a revelation for Adhu!!! (part 2)...THE FREINDS

Yes Freinds!!!the thing she longed for, yearned for!!even we wanted to get good playmates for her to channlize her interests and above see the glee in her eyes which happens only when she is with other kids..

I think parents are like-minded and in the last three years we never knew our entire block had lots of kids at Adhu's age. Thankfully most of them did not go to any summer camps or long visits to their natives.

Adhu first mingled started mingling with these two adorable boys. Rehaan and Ishaan. Initially our calling bells kept on ringing with these boys calling for Adhu then the brats instructed us to keep the doors only open which we immediately obliged!!! A mother's dream and wish is to only see her kid happy!!

Then away from our floor corridor Advitha started to move down to the lobby, garden and experimenting with outdoors all by herself and started mingling with other kids

So she was happily engaged for hours together in the morning and in the evenings!!!

Summer holidays- 2013.......What a revelation for Adhu!!! (part 1)

The two month summer holidays began with trips to mysore and chennai. Mysore was dotted with visits to the zoo, palace, gardens. Advitha enjoyed the palace than the well-kempt zoo..Poor thing walked kms with us throughout the day and ate like a good girl at a good restaurant...

Chennai was as always dedicated to family and relatives!!

Then came her colouring and drawing stuff

But soon she got bored of everything and then IT happened!!!
To be continued!!!

Junior KG

Adhu completed her junior kg...Junior kg was fun for us and more fun for her...she really enjoyed going to school everyday...she became highly vivacious this year..though she has got a long way to go in sprucing her academic skills (still writing numbers in reverse order, not clearly differentiating addition and subtraction)...she still had a nice time...

Come june, it is time for Senior KG , lets see what it holds for her....

This was one of her activity

                                              Busy with homework....

This time we had a great holi celebrations in the apartment..got a Pichkari (water gun), colour powders, water ballons for Adhu and the celebrations extended for two full days...Adhu had loads and loads of fun with her friends, needless to say it took us two full days to water down her colours....

Adhu's annual day

The most exciting event for Adhu, her annual day took place in feb.. we were all the more excited to see her performance, we had to get her dress ordered from a specialty tailoring house, match it with accessories and yes the D day came..she indeed gave a cute performance, though she forgot a few steps, she emoted so well with a smiling face..the hall was too good that we had a clear view of her dance, and the best thing was the video DVD that had lots of her shots....
